Welcome!

If you have made it this far, I’m sure you have realized that I’m Tara Rack-Amber a writer trying to get all the characters and worlds that live in my head on to  paper.

Thank you for checking out my website and thank you for your interest in my books.

I hate talking about myself, but I should probably take the time to let you know a little more about me.

The most important information is listed in the Bio section of the website. (That is pretty much the highlight reel.) But I also wanted to share a little more about my interests and experiences that are more interesting and fun!

I have a wonderful husband who was my high school sweetheart. We went to separate colleges, but remained in our relationship until we were married over a decade ago.

I have a kiddo who is in elementary school. She served as the inspiration for my first published book “Mousekatots” because we quickly found out that taking a toddler to Walt Disney World was completely different than going with just a group of adults. (There were sooo many meltdowns! Mostly from the adults, but that is a different story.)

I love to travel especially going to Walt Disney World and on cruises. Right now, as I’m writing this the world is going through the COVID-19 pandemic and travel for me has been to the grocery store and home. I spend a lot of my day daydreaming about beaches and Mickey Mouse.

We also have three rescue cats who I am so jealous of because they always find the best places to nap in the house.

When I’m not writing I like to read (such a surprise), play boardgames and video games, go for walks in the mountains that we call home, and do crafts. I taught myself how to sew and crochet, which offers a nice break from staring at a computer all day.

Childhood literacy is a big deal to me. I can remember being read to a lot as a child and one of my favorite memories was going to our local library with my Mom to pick out new books for the week.

We started reading to our kiddo when she was only a few days old and have continued the tradition to this day.

We as a society need to make sure we get books into the hands of children as soon as possible. On this blog I will also share with you some of my favorite children’s and young adult books. I love getting reading recommendations, too. If there is a book out there you love or your kids love, send me a message!

I also have a love of 80s and 90s nostalgia. Not to give away my age, but these time periods bring back so many fond memories of my childhood. It has even inspired my Halloween reading challenge this year, but there will be more about that later.

That pretty much sums me up in a nutshell.

I also love to make new friends, so feel free to follow me on Instagram and Twitter. Send me a message and we can chat!
